The Planets

‘The Planets’ is an audio-visual exhibition proposal that can be produced in almost any art gallery, hotel space, or museum. It was created by Pampa Louzao during 2017/18 in his home studio in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

As you may think, ‘The Planets’ suggests a view into outer space, but this exploration may also inspire people to take a look into their inner imaginative creative universe.

‘The Planets’ is Pampa Louzao’s interpretation of our Solar System Planets. It’s composed of eight oil on canvas paintings. Each painting includes its own electronic ambient music composition produced specifically for each piece.
The project was inspired by a classical orchestral music suite titled: ‘The Planets, Op 32’ written between 1914 and 1916 by english composer Gustav Holst.

Paintings were born after mixing two main factors. First, a scientific research about each planet’s physical composition was made. It included main characteristics, type of movement, density, satellites, and anomalies. Astrological photography documents were used to get a color palette inspiration and texture for each artwork.
On the other hand, Greco-Roman mythology was taken into account as a personification tool for each work. It was through myths and their close connection with the Planets, that ancient civilizations explained life and death...

By combining both, eight paintings were born. They carry an obsessive level of detail and a vibrant color balance. These surrealistic compositions are slightly influenced by the abstract figurative aesthetics which combined with the music will certainly lead the viewer into an infinite realm of possibilities and wonders.
